Gold Fossicking in Long Creek
Long creek creates a boundary of Bushlands, near the camping area. It rises in the hills in the Pyramul direction. Clarkes creek, which runs through the gold mining district of the 1860’s, flows into Long creek near the junction of Clarkes Creek Rd, just down from Bushlands. After heavy rain the creek can rise rapidly, bringing down new deposits of gold for the fortunate ones to find (luck, hard work and some knowledge of the art of fossicking all come into play!) Many hours of relaxation can be had exploring Long Creek.
Golden & Fleece Hotel
Situated next door is the ‘Gold & Fleece Hotel’ built in 1911. Main Bar, Dining Room, Billiards area, Beer Garden and umbrella al fresco dining area. Live music weekly. Meet the colourful locals and find out for yourself what makes Windeyer a great place to visit. www.windeyerhotel.com.au. Great value meals Thursday to Sunday
